The measurements of the cases and crates must be modular so as to optimise the space occupied on the means of transport, whether trucks or containers.
The use of containers allows crates to be used instead of cases in phenolic compensate, with a consequent economic advantage on the cost of the packaging and a greater guarantee for the quality of the material transported.
It is important to consider that, in addition to the type of packaging, protective material must also be chosen, such as:
- bubble wrap
- desiccant crystals depending on the type of shipment (by sea or by land)
- anticorrosive paper
- protective film and protective oils
It is also essential that the materials (particularly wood) meet the acceptance parameters and conditions and that the cases/crates/platforms satisfy the various moisture, immersion, curving, ungluing and traction tests.
All the various disinfestations required by law (fumigation) for transport to/from non-European countries must also be performed.
