ECODAILY at L’Aquila for the G8
Having recently been unveiled to the worldwide media, the ECODAILY, Iveco's new light commercial vehicle that combines respect for the environment with great performance, is now at the G8 Summit taking place in L'Aquila and involving more than 2,500 people in addition to some 800 journalists from across the globe.
Committed to its work but also fully in keeping with the discussions on climate change, the electric version of the ECODAILY is at the summit to directly support the work of Italy's Civil Protection department, which also has 10 Iveco Massif at its disposal for more tricky journeys on less friendly roads.
Completing the fleet are 80 Iveco Irisbus vehicles for transporting people. There are 50 coaches and 30 minibuses, providing services to delegations from the participating countries for the duration of the G8. The coaches are the top-of-the-range Magelys, the Domino (the best-selling tourist vehicle in Italy), the Evadys and the Proxys midibus, while the minibuses are Daily Tourys. There are two electric Europolis buses acting as an internal shuttle service within the Coppito police academy in L'Aquila, which is the official venue for the G8.
All these vehicles are part of a broader supply that the Fiat Group, in its role as the event's main sponsor, provided by choosing various models to make up a fleet with the diversity and functionality to meet all the G8's logistical requirements. Most importantly, it is an eco-sustainable fleet comprising vehicles with an extremely low impact on the environment.
Iveco created a dedicated team specifically for this event - which represents a great opportunity for our country to showcase the excellence of Italian design - comprising the heads of the quality, customer service and marketing departments. This team has spent months ironing out every detail with the Civil Protection office and other companies in the Fiat Group in order to demonstrate the qualities of the vehicles and the efficiency of the support network in such an important international shop window.
