The Model in Brief

Since its introduction in 1978, Daily, in all its product evolutions, has set new firsts, so leading the market on each occasion and becoming the point of reference for innovation in the light commercial vehicle sector.

Its truck style chassis frame, rear wheel drive, direct injection turbocharged Diesel engine, 4x4 off-road versions, intercooler, natural gas engines, up to 17,2 m3 loading volume and 210 cm internal height, common rail fuel injection, 6-speed transmissions and 7 tons maximum permitted mass. These are the strengths that summarises the history of an undisputed star in the light commercial vehicle  market, which has led to the sale of over two million units.

The key to Daily’s success is in its ability to evolve whilst remaining true to itself, confirming on the one hand the values that characterise its DNA (reliability, efficiency, versatility) and, on the other, continuing to respect the environment with excellent results also in terms of performance, durability and hardiness.

It is absolutely this common thread that has characterised the entire history of the vehicle, leading to the birth of New Daily, the answer, once more, to the needs of transport professionals.

New Daily brings renewed engines and a host of other features. The model has always been recognised with the fame of "Champion of Mobility" for its ability to offer low fuel consumption and low running costs. And today new Daily excels, expanding its offer of FPT Industrial engines with three new versions:

• The most powerful Diesel engine in its segment, the Euro 5, 3 litre Twin Turbo, rated at 205 cv (150 kW) with a maximum torque of 470 Nm. It represents the first 4 cylinder Diesel engine in its class to exceed the threshold of 200 cv, thanks to the adoption of a new two stage turbocharger with inter-stage charge cooling technology.
• The new Euro 5 2.3 litre Diesel engine at 146 cv (107 kW) with a torque of 350 Nm, with a new variable geometry turbocharger and the exclusive Multijet II fuel injection technology, optimised to provide the maximum operating efficiency.
• A new EEV version of the 3 litre Diesel engine, rated at 146 cv and 370 Nm with a variable geometry turbocharger completes the new engine range, offering tail-pipe emissions of particulate matter well below the levels required by the homologation standard.

The range also features the Natural Power Bi-fuel version, powered by the super-ecological EEV engine, optimised for operation on natural gas, with a small gasoline tank for use in case of emergency. And the zero-emission Daily electric,  designed, produced and marketed directly by Iveco.

But this is not all, because the driver, as well as enjoying the benefits of these new engines, can improve and optimize his driving style with new technologies like the Stop & Start functionality and the GSI (Gear Shift Indicator) system, by which the driver can better manage his way of driving.

These functionalities, in combination with the new 6 speed transmission offered with the 2.3 litre Diesel versions, brings reductions in fuel consumption and consequent CO2 emissions of up to 10% compared to the previous model.

The New Daily is characterised by its original shape and balance of its volumes. Its design evokes dynamism, strength and personality, with a good mix between aesthetics and functionality.

A new captivating design makes New Daily immediately recognisable. The redesigned front end features the new radiator grill, designed to accommodate the new optimised engine cooling system, new headlamps units incorporating DRL (Daytime Running Lights) and new fog lights with Fog Cornering functionality, operable at road speeds up to 40 km/h permitting improved visibility and safety by illuminating the road when cornering.

Innovative styling and a range of powerful engines: But New Daily is also synonymous with comfort and driving pleasure. Also these aspects have been the result of improvements, thanks to a review of the driver’s cab interior. A new axial adjustable steering column and a greater range of seat and seat back adjustment have been introduced, while the ergonomics of the driver’s movements and ease of crossing the cab is improved by repositioning the gear lever housing. Also new is the desmodromic door and ignition key that, thanks to the 10,000 key combinations, offers improved protection against unauthorised access to the vehicle.

Several configurable storage compartments are inside the vehicle, including a shelf located above the windshield, a large 6 litre container under the passenger's two-seater bench and a functional support, housed in the passenger seat back, with a clip-board that can be mounted onto the steering wheel to serve as a writing desk. The compartment can also be used to house a notebook PC, or tablet, such as an iPad.

Throughout its history, Iveco has always been distinguished for its attention to road safety. As a natural development, New Daily sees the introduction of the latest generation ESP 9 system, featuring active sensors, and including, in addition to ABS, EBD, ASR (traction control) and MSR (Engine over-run manager), Hill Holder (Hill start assistant) and LAC (Active load control), new features such as HFCs (Hydraulic brake fade control), RMI (Roll movement intervention), ROM (Roll over mitigation) and TSM (selective braking enhancing vehicle and trailer dynamic stability).

State of the art technological innovation applied to New Daily is also in the field of information telematics, offering the Blue&Me™ system, the hardware solution designed by Fiat and Microsoft, to ensure the best communication services for those at the wheel, and Blue&Me Fleet™, the fleet management telematics package, developed in collaboration with Qualcomm.

There is also the latest generation TomTom Go Live 1000 navigator, with a 4.7” fluid touch screen, with HD Traffic and IQ Routes technology able to constantly calculate and suggest better routes.

Finally, the New Daily is presented today with a new offer that remains highly detailed and diversified: In short, the combinations available of chassis, engine, wheelbase and specific versions, amount to over 7000 different configurations, arranged as goods vehicles, passenger carrying vehicles and platforms for a vast range of conversions and specific body and equipment installations. In particular, the New Daily offers transport professionals a range of vans with 8 different loading volumes, from 7 to 17,2 m3 with a useful payload of up to more than 4 tons for van versions and up to 4.7 tons for chassis cabs.

So, New Daily today adds a significant date in the history of a model that, for more than thirty years has unquestionably been at the top of its category, with vehicles travelling the roads in more than 160 countries of the world.
