Iveco helps Yamaha Factory Racing Team and Dorna Sports
Iveco has supplied 20 new Stralis Hi-Way trucks to the Yamaha Factory Racing Team and Dorna Sports for the 2013 MotoGP, the premier international motorcycle racing world championship.
Iveco has supplied race competitor Yamaha, whose members include current world champion Jorge Lorenzo and four-time champion Valentino Rossi, with seven of the latest Stralis Hi-Way trucks and a Daily van. Yamaha will use the vehicles to transport motorcycles, offices, mobile workshops and its personnel.
The truck manufacturer has also supplied event organiser Dorna Sports with 13 Stralis Hi-Ways and four Daily vehicles. The vehicles will be used throughout the season to transport equipment, materials and offices.
The delivery ceremony was held after qualifying at the Gran Premio of Spain on the Jerez de La Frontera circuit on 5 May.
Present at the ceremony were Yamaha Team Factory Racing riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi, Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing, and Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports.
The new Stralis Hi-Way is Iveco’s flagship heavy truck. It was named the International Truck of the Year 2013 and is manufactured at the company’s production facility in Madrid, Spain.
Iveco announced last month it was entering its fourth consecutive year as commercial vehicle supplier to the MotoGP, which kicked off on 7 April with an evening race in Doha, Qatar and will see riders compete in an eighteen-race series across thirteen countries, on four continents, and concludes on 10 November in Valencia, Spain.
Iveco is the title sponsor for Iveco TT Assen 2013, the seventh race of the season, which will be held in the Netherlands on 29 June. Iveco will also be title sponsor at the Aragón circuit in Spain on 29 September, for the Gran Premio Iveco de Aragón event.
The Iveco brand will be displayed on the first two curves of the speedway, at the starting line and on the grandstand at the Assen and Aragón circuits. Its logo will also be displayed on a track curve and deck at the upcoming MotoGP Catalunya circuit in Spain.
