About AMCE

Automotive Manufacturing Co. of Ethiopia Share Company

Established in 1970, AMCE (Automotive Manufacturing Co. of Ethiopia Share Company) is a joint venture between IVECO S.p.A. (70%) and the Government of Ethiopia (30%). Its origins trace back to the 1930s, when FIAT introduced the 621 and 634 truck models to Ethiopia, gaining widespread recognition. This success led to the establishment of an assembly plant in Addis Ababa in collaboration with the Ethiopian government.

Construction of the plant began in 1972 on a 50,000 m² site, with 13,121 m² covered. Since 1975, AMCE has expanded significantly, now operating on a 132,392 m² site.

AMCE is more than just an assembly facility—it also manufactures cargo and trailer body and through partnerships with local industries.
