The Cursor engines on the NEW STRALIS are optimised on the basis of thermodynamic efficiency: the higher combustion temperatures reduce fuel consumption and particulate generation.Thanks to the outstanding efficiency of the HI-eSCR (conversion rate > 95% as against 80-85% for the best competitors), NOx levels meet Euro VI standards without recourse to EGR.
HI-eSCR provides the best combination of efficiency and service life, with compact, lightweight technology. The entire system, together with the DPF, is located in a single housing mounted beside the frame (thereby reducing volume and facilitating maintenance).With the launch of the NEW STRALIS, the family of Cursor engines adopts COMMON RAIL injection technology integrated into the cylinder heads: another exclusive IVECO feature, designed to reduce the complexity of the engine bay.The decompression engine braking system has been combined with a butterfly valve on the exhaust to produce the new "SUPER ENGINE BRAKE". By delivering 30% more braking power, the SUPER ENGINE BRAKE improves road safety and reduces wear to components, thus offering a big saving on consumables.
