Julian Dango has been appointed as Business Director of IVECO South Africa and Africa Right-Hand driven markets and Director of IVECO South Africa Works (ISAW) – the Joint Venture between Larimar Group and IVECO.
Mr. Dango brings to his new roles the extensive experience and product knowledge he developed in the various posts he has held in Sales, Marketing, Dealer Property Management, Business Development and Strategy development for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region since joining IVECO in 2004. Among his key achievements was the sale of the first fully electric buses to Germany in his role of IVECO Bus Sales and Service Director in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He studied economics and holds an MBA; he is fluent in German, English, Spanish and Italian.
Mr. Dango stated: “In my new role I plan to embrace the massive potential of the brand, and leverage the quality and depth of IVECO’s product range and our local production capabilities. My objective is to improve the efficiency of IVECO’s operations in South Africa to lay the foundation for sustainable growth.”
He has set clear priorities for his team, starting with the improvement of customer uptime as the core aftersales focus. He explains: “There’s nothing new in the saying that the salesman sells the first truck, but after sales sells the second, consequently we will support our dealers to provide the quality service that will ensure the loyalty of our customers.”
The second key priority is to improve IVECO’s retail financing structure to better support retail sales.
Mr. Dango concluded: “We want to touch the lives of all South Africans by improving the local public transport system leveraging IVECO’s expertise and local production of buses. In the longer term, I would like to bring IVECO’s world-leading natural-gas powered vehicles to South Africa (both for buses and trucks). I believe that natural gas offers key advantages to South Africa in terms of environmental impact and energy independence.”
