The interior of the cabins Stralis Active Time and Active Day meets two requirements:
improve
working conditions and safety , with a more modular driver's seat , an
instrument panel features a display for displaying the functional
parameters and route commands gathered above and below the steering
wheel, a higher level of ride comfort ;
make life easier on board the Active Time, through the organization of the rest area .
As
for the driver's seat, the layout of the controls and the living space ,
the setting of the cabins Stralis is the result of extensive studies on
the evolution of working conditions and the missions entrusted to
drivers in the various European countries. The solutions developed by Iveco design offices have been tested and validated with users , both owners and drivers. The validity of this approach was confirmed by the excellent reception given by the drivers to the Active Space cab .
Driver's seat lowered
To
reduce driver fatigue in the missions of the distribution,
characterized by frequent ascents / descents from the vehicle , the
cabins Active Time and Active Day has been lowered by 15 cm . At full load, the height of the floor of the driver's seat with respect to the ground is 1.24 m with tires 315 /80 R 22.5. On the other hand , the bonnet is bigger, with a height of 35 cm. The suspension of the cabins, a new concept, includes two air springs front and two rear coil springs . Thanks
to their low frequency of oscillation , the elements tires filter the
vibrations produced by the road and the stresses due to the semitrailer .
A request on the Active Time Sleeper Cab , the suspension may be with four air springs .
The driving position is identical to that of the Stralis Active Space . The chair is equipped with air suspension is adjustable in length , height and angle. It is covered with dark red fabric , with headrest and seat belt integrated. The seat can be lowered quickly to facilitate the descent from the vehicle. Thanks
to the articulation of the steering column , the steering wheel ensures
a wide angular excursion : from 20 ° to 40 ° to the vertical ,
according to a growing tendency from the drivers . The
steering wheel is also adjustable in height and is sufficient to
operate a pneumatic foot switch, placed on the floor of the cabin.
The
armrest , located along the window , a command console integrates the
power windows , the defrosting device and electric control (optional)
rear-view mirrors . The
extension down the side window was kept on Active Day cab , and was
instead eliminated on the Active Time , to preserve the tranquility of
the driver during the nights on board. The cassette inserted into the port can accommodate a water bottle large format . The fabric covering of the door panels is identical to that of the seats . Each port has a sun blind .
The controls on the steering wheel
The central part of the steering wheel is designed for the development of a future air-bag . On the sides , there are several buttons that can be operated with the fingertips , without taking your hands off the wheel. The left control the radio - station selection and volume - and the CD player . The
buttons on the right allow you instead to "navigate " through the menu
of the on-board computer and displays various information on the
display.
Under
the steering wheel, the left column switch controls the functions
related to lighting and visibility : windshield wipers , turn signal and
switching headlights / high beams . The column switch right is reserved to the vehicle speed . It
in fact operates the cruise control ( cruise control ), and the engine
retarder , ie the decompression brake of which the Cursor engines are
equipped as standard . In
phase adjustment of speed, the engine retarder intervenes automatically
when the vehicle exceeds the speed stored ( for example , in descent ) .
The
Stralis can be equipped with a hydraulic retarder on the transmission (
Intarder ZF ) , operated by the same lever under the steering wheel ,
on the right side .
The
gearboxes ZF 16-speed coupled to the Cursor 8-350 and 10 , possess
series of assistance ServoShift , which has allowed to limit the length
and the effort of the lever inserted on the engine tunnel , in a
position that does not hinder the ' access to the center of the cabin. In
the presence of the automatic gear EuroTronic II ( on request), the
switch is always located to the right of the seat, on a fixed support .
A display at the center of the instrument panel
The
instrument panel , placed in line with the eyes of the driver and
rounded in its upper part , it is always perfectly visible, regardless
of the adjustment of the steering wheel . The
instruments are analog : speedometer with odometer and partial ,
tachometer, fuel level and coolant temperature of the engine. The
novelty introduced by the Stralis Active Space regards the color
display 5 ", located in the center of the instrument panel is divided
into three zones . The upper area shows permanent indications such as
the parameters of the controller and the speed limiter or the ratio of transmission
inserted . before starting , the central area shows the oil level and
verification functions . During the march , the driver can view the
operating parameters of the engine and various information about the
route : travel time, average speed, fuel average
or instantaneous . in the latter case, in addition to the value
expressed in l/100 km or mpg, a colored area shows the consumption of
variable size with respect to the position of the foot on the
accelerator. According to the opinion of users, it is an
important economic driving aid . at the bottom , appear the messages
related to possible anomalies. the display is surrounded by spies of the
lights, the functions included ( engine brake , retarder, differential
lock , PTO , etc. . ) and some reports .
The controls on the instrument panel
To
the left of the steering wheel , you will find the master switch of
outdoor lighting and light switches in depth and front and rear fog . Right on the framework , some functions related to driving , such as emergency lights or limitation of the ASR . The
central module is placed parallel to the windshield to release the
upper part of the tunnel in the case of short cab , promoting mobility
or allow the mounting of a center seat . This
module includes the parking brake lever , the controls for the heater
or air conditioner, the interior , sunroof , power take-offs , etc. .
Some details that change your life
The electronic tachograph is placed above the windshield. It will keep the same position even when it becomes "European" , with recording driving data on magnetic media. To
the side of the tachograph , we find a radio with duplicate controls on
the steering wheel and display of the stations on the central display .
Regulations require a minimum of attention from the driver . Over the radio, there are two slots , one of which can accommodate any device CB The driver has a cup holder on the right and on the left, a holder for your mobile phone. A writing cabinet, placed behind the seat , can be placed on the steering wheel to fill the delivery documents during stops. At the base of the central module , there will be an outlet of compressed air and a 12V power outlet . Another 12 V power outlet is located on the form of the Active Time cab berth
Active Day : a short cab , but not too
The Active Day cab has a length of 1.66 m. It offers a space of 15 cm behind the driver's seat in its normal position. The
possibility of retreat of the seat, combined with the angular
adjustment of the steering wheel , allows all drivers to find the best
driving position , regardless of the size, without having the feeling of
driving with " cornered " . This advantage existed originally on the car before and has appeared only recently in some competitors. To
accommodate the documents and some personal effects, the driver has two
slots located above the windshield , one of which is fitted with a
door. Some coat hooks are provided on the rear panel.
Active Time : one or two bunks
The Active Time cab has a length of 2,15 m . The standard bunk is raised above the engine tunnel . The upper part of the mattress (often 12 cm) located 52 cm from the bonnet . The bunk is divided into three parts, of which the central one is 82 cm wide. Each element can be raised separately. The
one on the right hides a large room at the bottom of which is placed
the heater alone , separated from the housing for storing objects using a
grid. Under
the central element, the space is occupied , the driver's side , a
bottle holder above the pocket for documents and passenger-side
dall'optional isothermal compartment or refrigerator. Under
the right element , we find another housing smaller, since a part of
the space is occupied by the airtight container accessible from outside.
The
Active Time cab with standard roof is reserved for cars with low
equipment , transport of passenger cars and tractors with semi- sunken
tanker . For
all trim levels and high trailers , Iveco recommended version Active
Time with raised roof , also available with a second berth. The
main advantage of the Active Time is raised to allow the upright
position at the center , thanks to a free height of 1.82 m . With only the standard bunk , the driver has a height of 1.30 m above the mattress . Three additional rooms have been set up above the windshield. To
add a touch of refinement to the cabin with raised roof , the upper
band of the windshield is covered in the same fabric dark red that
covers the door panels.
