union between Iveco and international sport has a long history : in
1980 , very early in its history , Iveco is committed in the first high
level participation as a sponsor of the Italian team athletics at the
Moscow Olympics . A good start , with the three gold medals won by Sara Simeoni , Pietro Mennea and Maurizio Damilano . The
1980 is also the last year of the "Raid Pigafetta ," a journey of
184,000 kilometers made by Iveco 4x4 PC 75 through 48 countries in
Europe, Asia, Australia, North and South America.
In
1981 Iveco opens the season with two of the great boxing sponsorship of
the first order : the meeting between Leonard and Hearnes in Las Vegas,
with a television audience of over 400 million people in more than 50
countries , and then the double championship world of Chicago. Also in 1981 Iveco wins the first edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans reserved for trucks , in the presence of 60,000 spectators.
1982
