AN EFFICIENT AND SAFE BRAKING SYSTEM
The driver of a Stralis can depend on an efficient, reliable and safe braking system. The entire Stralis range is equipped with
front and rear ventilated disk brakes which are electronically controlled by
ABS, EBL systems - to optimise the braking power based on the load - and, upon request, anti-slip
ASR.
ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM
The ABS (
Anti-lock Braking System) prevents lock-up during braking, no matter what the road surface conditions are. The signals which reach the ABS sensors, located on the wheels, provide exact information regarding the behaviour and reactions of each wheel during braking. Therefore the ABS is able to
reduce brake force immediately before one or more wheels lock up. If the road surface conditions allow for more decisive braking, the ABS increases brake power again up to the maximum grip limit.
ELECTRONIC BRAKE LIMITATION
The Iveco Stralis Cursor 8 models are equipped with EBL (
Electronic Brakeforce Limitation) in order to optimise the braking power based on the load. The impulses sent to the ABS sensors provide all of the information regarding the reaction of individual wheels under the braking action. It is therefore possible to calculate the current distribution of the load between front and rear axles and to
calibrate the braking pressure on each axle in real time based on the conditions at that moment in time
ANTI-SLIP SYSTEM
The ASR (
Anti-Slip Regulation) uses the same type of impulse as the ABS system, impeding slippage of the drive wheels and improving traction during acceleration. The ASR electronic control unit:
- optimises vehicle stability,
- avoids slippage of the drive wheels
- and reduces wear on the tyres.
With ASR the drive wheels have the
best possible traction even on slippery or uneven road surfaces.
