Across Europe, light commercial vehicles now face a 10x higher risk of theft than passenger cars, and in the rental
sector that risk nearly doubles again. Vehicle theft has become increasingly organised and targeted, with
professional criminal groups stealing vehicles through sophisticated fraud schemes, then quickly moving them to
secondary markets where they are resold intact or dismantled for parts.
For operators who rely on the IVECO Daily to keep their businesses running, theft represents far more than a
security concern — it can cause a significant operational disruption. The Daily is a vital working asset, and losing
even a single stolen vehicle can compromise service continuity, generate business losses and undermine
customer commitments.
In response to this evolving scenario, IVECO has introduced Stolen Vehicle Assistance, a solution embedded
in the vehicle’s factory-fit connectivity and fully integrated into the IVECO ON ecosystem, transforming basic
vehicle tracking into a coordinated and structured recovery model.
“With Stolen Vehicle Assistance, we help customers react quickly when a theft occurs and recover their vehicle
as fast as possible. By combining factory‑fitted connectivity, AI‑driven detection and a 24/7 Security Center, we
turn alerts into coordinated recovery actions that keep vehicles available and businesses running,” stated Alberto
Buttiglieri, Product Manager for Safety and Security Services at IVECO.
Smart security integrated into the vehicle
Stolen Vehicle Assistance supports fast and effective recovery in the event of theft, helping to reduce downtime
and financial losses. The system builds on standard connectivity across the IVECO range and integrates
automated detection technologies based on artificial intelligence and geofencing, powered by Targa Telematics,
the leading European player and a global leader in the field of AIoT and the development of digital solutions and
platforms for connected mobility. Virtual geographic boundaries can be defined, unusual movements can be
detected, and once theft is confirmed, recovery procedures are activated without delay. Through the IVECO ON portal and the Easy Daily App, customers retain full visibility of their vehicles during
everyday operations while benefiting from an additional layer of professional support in critical situations.
Recovery rates up to 90% thanks to the Security Center available 24/7
A key element of the service is the 24/7 Security Center, managed in collaboration with Targa Telematics, which
combines advanced telematics technologies with long-standing expertise in stolen vehicle recovery services. Following a validated alert, the Security Center immediately coordinates with the relevant authorities, manages
vehicle tracking and supports the recovery process in compliance with applicable regulations. The service is also
supported by agentic AI assistants, capable of analysing vehicle data and operational context, correlating events
and suggesting the most effective actions for operators to take.
“By leveraging advanced data intelligence together with years of operational expertise in vehicle security, we help
fleets respond quickly and effectively to critical events,” said Alberto Falcione, Vice President Sales at Targa
Telematics. “Through close collaboration, we supported IVECO in developing a tailored solution design to protect
commercial vehicles and support fleet operators with both cutting-edge technology and dedicated managed
services, ensuring business continuity and greater peace of mind.”
This end-to-end approach reduces response times, increases recovery rates — up to 90% — and helps limit the
operational and insurance-related consequences of theft.
Beyond vehicle recovery, the service provides structured assistance during a high-impact event, helping operators
minimise disruption and restore normal operations more quickly.
Spain served as the trailblazer for the service, which will now be deployed across all European countries. Early
customer feedback highlights clear benefits for daily fleet management, particularly improved vehicle visibility
during routine operations and the added protection provided in the event of theft. It provides the peace of mind
that vehicles and operations are always protected.
With Stolen Vehicle Assistance, IVECO reinforces its commitment to innovation in connected services, offering
customers not only efficient and sustainable vehicles, but also integrated digital solutions designed to protect their
business and maximise fleet availability.
