Join Shell and IVECO as we show how strategic cooperation and policy leadership are helping to bring bioLNG to a wider, European fleet audience.
A 10-day long-haul journey across Europe on board an IVECO S-Way truck powered by bioLNG. Our tour will stop at 5 biomethane-based landmarks along the route. Each stage will provide the opportunity to bring together industry leaders and end-users involved in the bioLNG value chain – from production to distribution and utilization – for discussions on the use of bioLNG to profitably decarbonize road freight transport.
A key issue, given that the transport industry is currently responsible for around 9% of total EU CO2 emissions carrying roughly 73.1% of all freight transported over land in the European Union, of all freight transported over land in the European Union (EU). Heavy duty trucks move the goods which are the foundation of Europe economy, that allows it to keep moving.
IVECO has pioneered internal combustion engines for alternative fuels for more than two decades and, in more recent years, has extended the scope of its development activities. Our solution is now based on a multi-energy approach that includes also electrified solutions – both battery-electric and hydrogen-powered.
By working together, the two companies will demonstrate the important role of collaboration, their respective leadership position, and their extensive presence and know-how in the sector to drive the bioLNG market to further growth. As a result, the tour aims to:
- Prove that a long-haul route along Europe with a bioLNG powered truck is possible.
- Show the developing bioLNG ecosystem to showcase the growing availability of bioLNG for European transport.
- Create awareness around the decarbonisation potential of bioLNG for long-haul transport, by reaching net-zero emissions at the end of the tour.
