IVECO has long been a pioneer of alternative fuels, helping customers improve efficiency while reducing emissions. Electric vehicles are a key element in its multi-energy approach to drive the road for change towards zero-emissions with solutions that don’t compromise on customer profitability or business productivity. That’s what is delivered by the new IVECO S-eWay – the first born electric heavy-duty truck fully manufactured by IVECO – and the enhanced eDaily.

The world is witnessing a rapid transition to electric mobility with the commercial vehicle industry being an essential part of this disruptive change. Sales of electric trucks have been tripling year-on-year since 2019 and are expected to continue to increase. A supportive ecosystem is essential to enable the scale-up phase of eMobility and meet the market demand. This is why IVECO has expanded its eMobility service portfolio integrating solutions that are specifically designed for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV): an innovative combination of products, services and business models to fully support customers transitioning to electric.

IVECO is going further in order to facilitate access to the green transition with the introduction of the innovative start-up GATE, an all-inclusive pay-per-use formula for the long-term rental of green commercial vehicles.

IVECO S-eWay is ‘electric by nature’ and ready for heavy-duty missions

Capable of satisfying an extensive selection of missions, such as hub-to-hub or hub-to-city, the all-electric IVECO S-eWay features a range of up to 500km. This vehicle is powered by an innovative battery system consisting of nine 82kWh batteries totalling 738kWh.

Fast charging at up to 350kW, S-eWay can recharge 80% of battery SOC in 90 minutes. These batteries have been tested in real-world conditions, facing extreme temperature from -30 to +50°C to perfect the advanced thermal management system.

The 4x2 S-eWay tractor unit is powered by a dual-motor eAxle by FPT Industrial, IVECO's sister Brand specialised in advanced powertrain technologies, producing 480kW continuous power and 1,800Nm of torque. Not only does the eAxle grant best-in-class dynamic performance, but its compact design allows all battery modules to reside within the chassis – negating the need for a battery ‘backpack’ on the cab. This packaging enables IVECO S-eWay operators to take full advantage of trailer lengths and minimise the turning circle. Six regenerative braking drive modes will help maximise efficiency while giving the driver greater control over drivetrain behaviour.

The spacious cab features impressive levels of storage, a focus on ergonomics, and a suite of technology. A large 12.8-inch digital driver’s display has been designed to show only the most relevant information to reduce cognitive load.

A class-leading 17-inch infotainment display provides a rich user interface that is easy to navigate thanks to larger icons. A heavy truck specific navigation system highlights route restrictions based on trailer weight, load size, and hazardous material classification.

eDaily ‘more than electric’ now boasts 50kW ePTO and fourth battery option for extra versatility

eDaily is renowned for its innovative modular battery technology, giving it a range of up to 400km in urban real- world usage, and a fourth battery can now be configured on 72C 7.2 tonne GVW 5100mm chassis cab models. Extending battery capacity to 148kWh enables a range of up to 240km. Three and four-battery IVECO eDaily models also receive faster 115kW rapid charging, granting 100km of range in as little as 20 minutes. Additionally, chassis cab vehicles gain the flexibility of an optional side-mounted charging port to optimise convenience for drivers.

The eDaily’s unrivalled 15kW ePTO capabilities have also been extended, now offering an exceptional 50kW of power in high voltage and mechanical ePTO forms. This significant increase in power can now provide a zero- emission solution for equipment used in demanding specialised missions such as gully cleaning, firefighting, snow ploughing, garbage collection and more.

Able to be driven on a ‘B’ driving licence - based on the national implementation of European regulations - the IVECO eDaily 42S with its 4.25-tonne GVW can now be optioned with AIR-PRO Pneumatic suspension. This unique continuous damping suspension provides a smooth ride while also reducing body roll. A useful feature of AIR-PRO is its memory function which can adjust the vehicle chassis height for unloading and save it via the memory function for repeat deliveries.

Matching the Daily’s introduction of a dynamic digital driver’s display and impressive new multimedia screen, the new eDaily now provides Smart Routing features either via the new infotainment or the eDaily Routing app. This enables the driver to check the predicted range with the system advising on when intermediate charging is needed, taking into account the route and range estimations via Artificial Intelligence.

Functionality has also been enriched for drivers and fleet managers to operate more efficiently with eRemote controls that remotely manage the vehicle’s settings via the Easy Daily App or through the IVECO ON portal. The fleet manager can check remotely the status of vehicle functions such as Hi-Matic settings and Eco Mode, being able to lock them to ensure maximised fuel efficiency during operations. This feature now enables remote control of ADAS settings ensuring vehicle active and passive safety.

GATE: the complete ecosystem of service for a smooth transition to electric mobility

Launched as a pilot project in Italy in July 2023, IVECO’s Green & Advanced Transport Ecosystem (GATE) offers an all-inclusive, pay-per-use formula for the long-term rental of green commercial vehicles, which will be available for eDaily and IVECO S-eWay. It is a true ecosystem of services offered in three packages – Easy, Energy and eManager - with increasing levels of cover, each bundled with charging station options and tailored solutions. The innovative pay-per-use formula enables customers to forecast their use of the vehicle and pay accordingly, moving from a fixed monthly fee to a tailor-made offer with Premium services. IVECO will begin to extend GATE to new countries in 2024 with the aim of gradually covering all European markets.
