Iveco is eco-sustainable with “Ivec-O2”
On the occasion of World Environment Day, which was officially celebrated on Saturday 5th June, Iveco has renewed its “Iveco-O2” campaign, now in its second year, with the aim of raising awareness of eco-sustainability among its workforce.
The initiative will bring about a small change in temperature of the liquid refrigerant used in Iveco’s office air conditioning systems throughout Europe. A small sacrifice will be made by employees in working in ambient temperatures 1° C higher throughout the summer, yet still remaining at optimum levels for health and comfort.
The implementation of this simple eco-sustainable behaviour actually has a great impact on the environment: according to an estimate carried out on 14 sites, the initiative will result in energy savings that will prevent the emission of 423 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.
The “Iveco-O2” campaign also provides employees with a handbook, distributed through the corporate portal, that indicates every-day conduct and hints designed to avoid waste in the offices, demonstrating the active and responsible involvement of people working for Iveco.
The company continues its 360° commitment to environmental protection, which is expressed at all levels in the life cycle of its products from the selection of raw materials to production methods, the characteristics and performance of vehicles and their recyclability at the end of their useful lives.
Satisfying the growing need for mobility, ensuring at the same time a reducing environmental and social impact of its vehicles represents for Iveco a binding choice. Witness the full range of products with low environmental impact, aimed at reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Moreover, Iveco introduced vehicles compliant with Euro V exhaust emission four year ahead of the mandatory introduction date of October 2009
Today Iveco is already working on solutions that will be required for Euro VI, with the aim, once again, of making compliant products available in advance of the mandatory introduction date for the benefit of the environment and customers. In particular, Iveco has homologated EEV (Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle) Diesel engines, a step beyond the minimum legal requirements, for each range of vehicles and is by far the European leader in the field of vehicles powered by natural gas with exhaust emissions already at the levels required by future Euro VI regulations, entering in force in 2014.
In addition, Iveco boasts long experience in hybrid traction systems that offer reduced noise and improve ease of driving compared to traditional Diesel engined vehicles, with significant savings in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. They can also allow a certain emission free radius of operation for use in protected urban areas.
In 2008, Iveco initiated a vast customer acceptance programme involving a number of light range Daily and medium range Eurocargo parallel hybrid vehicles with important international customers.
Specifically for urban duties, Iveco offers a range of Daily Electric vans and minibuses providing emission-free and reduced noise driving with a useable range up to 120 km.
