NETV Heads for the High Seas With Containerships Group
European sea carrier Containerships Group has taken delivery of five new Iveco Stralis 44-tonne tractor units from North East Truck & Van (NETV), as part of its fleet replacement programme.
The Stralis AS440S45TX/P models with Iveco’s flagship Active Space Super3 cabs will be used to transport sea containers from its Teesport base in Middlesborough across the UK.
Charles Patton, Containerships UK Managing Director says: “We have had a longstanding relationship with NETV for more than 15 years and have always found their service to be first rate which is vital for us as we operate a door-to-door shipping line which is 24/7.”
Each of the new vehicles joining the fleet benefits from a specification which includes air-conditioning, slide-out fridge, Eberspacher night heater, electrically operated roof-vent and windscreen blind, door roller blinds and smart black curtains to enclose the cab area. The cab also features a three-piece modular bunk which incorporates a built-in table for maximum cab versatility, whilst driver comfort is ensured thanks to a heated and air-suspended seat with four separate comfort level settings, together with a pneumatic adjustable lumbar support.
“We have a fleet of Iveco trucks across Europe which have a proven reputation for reliability and economy. Drivers are away from base fairly often so we went for the Active Space Super3 cab as it is important that they are comfortable and looked after. The drivers really like them and have reported lots of positive feeback,” adds Mr Patton.
The Stralis 6x2 tractor units have been supplied on a three year operating lease with Iveco Capital which will see all servicing carried out by NETV in Billingham – one of eight NETV dealerships spanning the North and North East of England.
The Stralis is powered by Iveco’s Cursor 10 engine which is capable of producing up to 450 hp between 1,550 and 2,100 rev/min and up to 2,100 Nm of torque between 1,050 and 1,550 rev/min, whilst its ability to meet Euro 5 emissions standards ahead of their mandatory introduction in 2009 means it is eligible to receive a discount of £500 per year in Vehicle Excise Duty via the RPC (Reduced Pollution Certificate).
