Suffused with the promise that the sweetest victory is the one that is yet to come, Vanessa Ferrari, already several-times world champion in Artistic Gymnastics and sponsored by Iveco, has already closed the book on the World Championships which finished yesterday in Stuttgart.
Despite the physical difficulties brought on by an inflamed foot which greatly affected her performance, the Italian athlete still managed to give a good account of herself: a bronze medal in the overall women’s competition, qualification for the Olympic squad and sixth place in the individual floor exercise. Not a bad result, but not enough by a long way for an athlete with Vanessa’s ambition. That’s why today she is already planning the exercises, choreography and music for the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
In the meantime she will be able to make use of a new gym, currently nearing completion and due to be inaugurated in October in Brescia, beside the factory where the Eurocargo, Iveco’s range of medium vehicles, is assembled.
The new gym is the result of Iveco’s decision to make an area of land available to the Municipality of Brescia for the construction of a new gym to be used as a training and preparation facility by the athletes of the Associazione Sportiva Brixia, the sports club with which Vanessa trains and competes.
As part of the sponsorship agreement, signed in April of this year and set to run until after the conclusion of the Beijing Olympics in 2008, Iveco is also the “Official Carrier” of Vanessa Ferrari. And to keep its promises in this area, Iveco has provided the Brixia sports club with a Daily Minibus, specially fitted out for the team’s logistics requirements.
The sponsorship agreement with Vanessa has a deeper meaning for Iveco, whose corporate values are a perfect match for those of the Brixia sports club and their world-famous athlete: determination to achieve winning results, performance, an ability to keep promises, and team work. Fundamental values for achieving ambitious results, whether in sport or in business, and regardless of the spirit and method of expression of the individual disciplines.

Vanessa Ferrari
Vanessa Ferrari (Orzinuovi, 10 November 1990) is the 2006 Women’s World Champion in Artistic Gymnastics. She is well-known for her unique style, engaging freshness and modesty in the face of fame. At the 2005 Mediterranean Games held in Almeria, Spain, she captured the public’s attention by winning five gold medals and one silver. She is a member of the Associazione Sportiva Brixia, and the athlete from Brescia, Lombardy also won a gold medal at the 2006 European Championships held in Volos, Greece, and a silver medal in the individual floor exercise. In October 2006 she won a gold medal in the overall women’s competition and two bronze medals in the uneven bars and floor exercise competitions at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships held in Aarhus (Denmark). On 23 October 2006 in Rome, she received the Golden Collar from the Italian National Olympics Committee. A UNICEF Ambassador, Vanessa is also the youngest person to be conferred the title of “Cavaliere” in the history of the Italian Republic.
