On Monday, the Minister of Transport Alessandro Bianchi, being in Turin to attend the meeting of ANFIA (the Italian automotive industry association), visited the Iveco premises.
During the visit, the Minister met Iveco’s Chief Executive Officer Paolo Monferino who introduced the range of Iveco products and its advanced technologies. The main corporate strategies were also illustrated to the Minister, in particular as regards international developments and the recently established industrial partnerships in China.
Great attention was paid to three crucial issues for road transport policies which also are Iveco essentials: safety, productivity, and the environment. Safety is mainly based on research and testing to manufacture increasingly safer vehicles, together with investigation on advanced prevention systems. Productivity calls for the production of vehicles that offer low cost of ownership without penalising performance, like the Iveco Transport Concept recently launched at the Hanover Trade Fair. Last but not least, environmental protection is pursued by means of policies targeted at an increasingly sustainable transport system through eco-compatible technologies.
Discussions focussed on the positive effects in terms of reduction of traffic emissions that might result from progressive replacement of the current fleet, of both vehicles and buses, with more modern vehicles or vehicles fitted with alternative powering systems, such as natural gas.
