Iveco Sponsors the 2007 ENGVA Vehicle Exhibition & Conference
Iveco is one of the sponsors of the ENGVA (European Natural Gas Vehicle Association) Vehicle Exhibition and Conference that is officially opening today in Strasbourg. Long term member of ENGVA - the European Natural Gas Vehicles Association, which was founded in 1994 and now brings together over 60 companies from 17 different countries, with the aim of developing a sustainable, advantageous market for this type of vehicle in Europe - Iveco took the opportunity to demonstrate once again its commitment to natural gas vehicles. Iveco underlines its presence by exhibiting three natural gas vehicles.
Iveco is very much the European leader in natural gas technology and in natural gas vehicle production. By the end of 2006, Iveco has produced and put into service 2560 Daily vans and buses, 1070 heavy duty truck chassis, 3900 large buses and produced an additional 2260 engines for installation in vehicles produced by other manufacturers.
The Iveco commitment to natural gas vehicles amounts to making available a natural gas version of each of its engine families. The technology applied to its natural gas engines is in continuous evolution and currently achieves certification to the EEV (Environmentally Enhanced Vehicle) standard over all gas compositions with a tail-pipe NOx level of ¼ of the level permitted by the EEV standard. The engines are of the latest 4 valves per cylinder design, operating on a stoichiometric Otto cycle coupled to a 3-way catalyst. Air/fuel ratio is continuously controlled making the engine immediately responsive to any changes in natural gas composition.
The vehicles exhibited at the 2007 ENGVA Vehicle Exhibition & Conference are as follows:
• Iveco Daily 65 C 14 CNG. The 6.5 t Daily uses the new 3 litre dedicated natural gas engine rated at 136 hp and has a CNG storage capacity of 224 litres at 200 bar.
• Irisbus Citelis 12m CNG. Citelis uses the Cursor 7.8 litre dedicated natural gas engine rated at 272 hp and has a CNG storage capacity of 1232 litres at 200 bar.
• Iveco Stralis AD 260 S 27 Y/FS-D CNG. The 26t Stralis uses the Cursor 7.8 litre dedicated natural gas engine rated at 272 hp and has a CNG storage capacity of 640 litres at 200 bar.
In addition to the CNG engines equipping the above referenced vehicles, the Iveco Tector engine rated at 200 hp will soon feature in the EuroCargo CNG vehicle.
