On the occasion of the 2013 MotoGP, the premier motorcycle racing world championship, Iveco has supplied a total of 20 new Stralis Hi-Way trucks to both the competing Yamaha Factory Racing Team, whose members include current world title champion Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi, a past four-time title champion, and to Dorna Sports, the championship’s Spanish organiser.
The delivery ceremony took place today following the qualifying trials at the Gran Premio bwin of Spain on the Jerez de La Frontera circuit. Present at the ceremony were: Yamaha Team Factory racing riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi; Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing, and the CEO of Dorna Sports, Carmelo Ezpeleta.
The new Stralis Hi-Way is Iveco’s flagship heavy road vehicle. It was recognised as the International Truck of the Year 2013 and is manufactured at the company’s production facility in Madrid, Spain.
The vehicle supply is a part of Iveco’s partnership activities with Yamaha Factory Racing and the MotoGP, the latter with whom Iveco renews its role as “Trucks & Commercial Vehicles Supplier” for the fourth consecutive year. Iveco supplied four Daily vehicles and 13 new Stralis Hi-Way trucks to Dorna Sports in addition to seven new Stralis Hi-Way trucks and a Daily van to Team Yamaha. The Iveco vehicles, which are known for their safety and reliability, will be used throughout the world championship to transport equipment, materials, offices and mobile workshops.
The world championship kicked off on 7 April with an evening race in Doha, the capital of Qatar and will conclude this November in Valencia, Spain. A total of 18 races will be battled out across 13 countries on four continents.
The involvement of Iveco at the MotoGP will have the utmost visibility on the occasion of the Assen race, which will be held in the Netherlands on 29 June 2013. The Dutch circuit is accordingly labelled as the IVECO TT Assen 2013 circuit. The company will reprise its role as Title Sponsor on 29 September 2013 for the Aragón circuit in Spain. This circuit is officially billed as the Gran Premio IVECO de Aragón.
The Iveco brand will be visible throughout the Assen and Aragón circuits, specifically on the first two curves of the speedway, at the starting line and on the grandstand. It will also be present on the upcoming MotoGP Catalunya circuit in Spain, displaying its logo on a track curve and deck.
