An Iveco Stralis entered by Team Schwaben-Truck stars at Grand Prix in Eifel, Germany, for the European Truck Race Championship (ETRC)
Turin, 1 July 2015
Iveco took a starring role at the German Grand Prix on 26-28 June, as a race-ready Stralis prepared and managed by Team Schwaben-Truck took to the Nürburgring circuit in Eifel, which winds its way around Nürnberg castle.
The German Grand Prix counts towards the European Truck Race Championship and is a popular event with more than 100,000 spectators, who gathered to watch 15 of the best European drivers in the category race against each other.
Driving for Iveco was Germany’s Gerd Korber, Schwaben-Truck’s leader and European Truck Race champion in 1996, 2001 and 2003.
Korber was behind the wheel of a competition-ready Stralis, weighing 5.5 tonnes and equipped with a Cursor 13 engine. The German team's white and orange truck performed brilliantly, finishing second in two of the four races over the weekend.
Performances, concerts and fireworks rounded off a busy and spectacular weekend of motorsport, which attracted truck racing fans, representatives from the transport sector and families from across Germany and neighbouring countries.
Iveco and Team Schwaben-Truck have already taken part in this season’s Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg and the Italian Grand Prix in Misano, and will now head to Most in the Czech Republic and onward to the 24-hour grand final at Le Mans, France.
