Iveco's 1-2 in Stage 11 of the 2015 Dakar

After several days during which Iveco was on the verge of victory, during the 11th Special Stage, between Salta and Termas de Río Hondo, Hans Stacey achieved his second victory of the 2015 Dakar.

Gerard de Rooy was just behind, confirming the first 1-2 of this edition for Iveco. Stacey's chances of entering the Top Five are becoming increasingly greater, since he caught up almost 10m on the 5th place position in the overall ranking.

During the penultimate stage of the 2015 Dakar, Iveco ended one of its best days in the competition with a 1-2 for its Powerstar models driven by Hans Stacey and Gerard de Rooy. Stage 11 took place between the cities of Salta and Termas de Río Hondo in northwestern Argentina and the Trucks traveled 194 kilometers. Though they were mainly on dry (but difficult just-the-same) land, there were many muddy sections on a very fast road.

The official times were nerve-wracking for both Iveco fans and the ir team, since there were no computations for Stacey or De Rooy in the last sectors. Nevertheless, the two Dutch clearly dominated the stage.

Hans Stacey's and Gerard de Rooy's Iveco Powerstars, with their Cursor 13/Euro 6 12.9 liter and 900 horsepower engines, were the main weapons that allowed the drivers to reach the top two spots on the podium in Stage 11 and consolidate their position within the overall Top Ten. The maximum torque of 3800 Nm at 1,100 rpm gave them great traction on terrain where some of their rivals lost time and it was the key to winning the second special- stage of this 2015 Dakar.

Pep Vila, with the third Iveco truck — the Trakker Evolution II — arrived in 13th place today, 7m49s after his teammates. He is also in 13th place in the overall ranking. Had it not been for Tuesday's 40m penalization for not crossing a WP, the expert Spaniard driver would be two positions ahead.
