PageTitleHtmlEnvironment SubTitleHtmlSatisfying the growing demand for mobility, while reducing the environmental and social impact of vehicles throughout their life cycle, is a key strategy for Iveco. TextCenterTo meet this objective, the company’s research activities are focused on the development of innovative solutions to reduce pollution, noise emissions, traffic congestion and accidents, while increasing product recyclability. Environmental protection, product development processes and production is for Iveco an integral part of its business: this is done through the efficient use of natural resources, with particular attention to the rational use of water and energy resources, the minimization of the production of waste and their efficient management. In order to develop processes and products with a lower environmental impact, Iveco invests significant resources in research, development and innovation, which is crucial to foster sustainable growth. Sustainable mobility that respects the environment, society and local communities, is based on several main components, which Iveco is committed to finding the best technological solutions for, in order to be adopted during the phases of development and production. Among these components, are the commitment to reduce fuel consumption and emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), a greenhouse gas; to reduce pollutant emissions, such as nitrogen oxide (NOx) and non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHC), which are among the main causes of the deterioration of urban air quality; to reduce noise pollution; to improve road safety and to promote proper waste-management. MoreContentHtmlAs a result of this approach, Iveco has developed numerous initiatives to improve its environmental impact and responsibility. One of the most recent examples of this approach is Iveco’s construction of Brazil's First Eco-Dealership. In December 2011, Iveco opened its first eco-dealer in Brazil. The new environmentally sustainable dealership is the first of its kind in Brazil and it could be considered the most ecological in the world. The new dealer is located in Jundiai, approximately 80 kilometers from Sao Paulo. The building’s optimal exposure to sunlight for a long part of the day enables the dealership to produce electricity from solar energy. The roof of the building is also covered with grass, rolled out over several layers of recycled material and a layer of asphalt, which helps lower indoor temperature of the showroom by up to six degrees Celsius, thus reducing the need for air conditioning.
