Turin, September 23rd, 2025 - IVECO’s factory in Valladolid has been honoured with the prestigious Automotive Lean Production Award in the category “Digital Use Case OEM: Smart Safety”. This recognition – presented by the business magazine AUTOMOBIL PRODUKTION and consulting firm Agamus Consult GmbH - highlights the plant’s pioneering commitment in occupational safety that raise safety standards in industrial environments.

The jury praised the IVECO Valladolid plant “for its outstanding ability to integrate digitalization into safety management, becoming a benchmark within the group. The implementation of the automatic detection system for unsafe acts through artificial intelligence, together with pioneering initiatives such as virtual reality training and real-time monitoring technologies, demonstrate an exemplary commitment to prevention and safety culture”.

“This award is not just a recognition — it stands as clear evidence of how central safety and digitalization are for IVECO,” said José Manuel Jaquotot, Director of IVECO’s Madrid and Valladolid plants. “Moreover, it highlights what we consider non-negotiable: technological innovation must serve to protect people. At IVECO, we work every day to integrate automation, digital tools, and training to safeguard our teams and optimize our processes,” Jaquotot added.

The awards will be presented on the 25^th and 26^th of November 2025 during the annual Automotive Lean Production Congress at last year's winner Volkswagen Poznań in Poland.
In this edition, alongside IVECO Valladolid, other recognized factories and projects include Porsche Leipzig (OEM Award), BMW Group Landshut & Wackersdorf (Supplier Award), GlobalFoundries Dresden (Digital Use Case Supplier: Enhancing Quality in Semiconductor Manufacturing), SEAT Martorell (Special Award: Digital Mindset), and GG Group Germany (Special Award: Rapid Transformation). This list of winners reflects the high level of the competition and the presence of global leaders in automotive and industrial innovation.

About the IVECO Factory in Valladolid
The IVECO factory in Valladolid plays a key role in the company’s global production network. Its history dates back to 1955, when the facilities were built to host brands such as FADA and SAVA, two names that helped shape the early automotive industry in the region. Later, the plant became part of Pegaso, until it was acquired by IVECO in 1990, marking the beginning of production of the Daily model — one of the most iconic light commercial vehicles in the European market.
Since then, Valladolid has continuously evolved, becoming a center of innovation and efficiency. Over the past three decades, it has produced hundreds of thousands of Daily units, reaching milestones such as the 700,000^th vehicle in 2022, while also diversifying its activity with the production of IVECO S-Way cabins.

Its commitment to technological innovation has positioned it as a European leader in Industry 4.0, thanks to the integration of technologies such as Big Data, computer vision, RFID, 3D printing, augmented reality, collaborative robots, and autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs). The implementation of these solutions has not only optimized processes but also enabled significant progress in sustainability, energy efficiency, and above all, occupational safety.

This effort has been reflected in prestigious recognitions. In 2019, the plant achieved Gold level in the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) program — a standard of excellence attained by only a few factories in the sector. It has also received awards for Digital Transformation, having reduced its energy consumption and CO₂ emissions by more than 50%, proving that productivity, innovation, and sustainability can go hand in hand.

Today, the Valladolid plant not only produces vehicles but also exports knowledge and best practices to the rest of IVECO’s industrial network. This new European award for its digital safety application confirms its role as a driver of innovation in the transport industry and as an example of how a factory with over six decades of history can lead the future of manufacturing.
