IVECO and Plastic Free together for a clean-up day to protect the environment
IVECO and Plastic Free Onlus organized a clean-up day to take action on plastic pollution and protect the environment
through a dedicated initiative involving the Africa & Middle East Team employees based in Turin.
Turin, 11th November 2024
IVECO decides to give its contribution and further strengthen its commitment to making a positive impact on the
environment and society by starting a collaboration with Plastic Free Onlus, a non-profit organization acting since 2019
to raise awareness on plastic pollution with clean-up events in cities, beaches, parks and rivers and with educational
activities in schools.
The initiative, in line with the Iveco Group's sustainability strategy and commitment to local communities, was organized
by the Africa & Middle East IVECO Team based in Turin as part of their team building.
The IVECO Team has been engaged on a voluntary basis in a clean-up activity coordinated by Plastic Free Onlus in a
city park area along the Po River, located a few kilometers from our site: 60 volunteers from Africa & Middle East Team
responded positively to the call and worked shoulder to shoulder to contribute to the cleaning of their city.
In recent weeks, the involved IVECO employees completed a webinar hosted by Plastic Free Onlus, with the aim to
raise awareness on the dangers of plastic pollution and to reflect on alternative solutions, thereby empowering more
people to act and make conscious choices. The ecological walk for the Africa & Middle East IVECO Team marks a
further step in this direction.
In the morning, over 350 kg of waste was collected, including glass bottles, cardboard materials, plastic cups, cigarette
butts and bulky materials of various kinds.
The material collected has been weighed and accounted for by Plastic Free Onlus together with the local waste
management company. At the end of the activity, a final ritual photo for all the participants who, in an atmosphere of
great enthusiasm and involvement, were protagonists of a concrete and impactful initiative.
Elvira Ferrara, Member of the Africa & Middle East Committee for Local Communities & AME Marketing Manager
commented: "In IVECO we are daily committed to do what is right and to collaborate to win, today we have seen our
impact concretely outside the working environment. We thank Plastic Free for the activity involving our Africa & Middle
East team based in Turin. It was a highly educational moment, increasing awareness about environmental protection
and the importance of preserving our natural resources.”
Luca De Gaetano, Founder and President of Plastic Free Onlus, commented: “IVECO’s commitment to supporting
our initiatives is a shining example of how business can make a tangible contribution to environmental conservation.
Each step we take together brings us closer to the shared goal of drastically reducing plastic’s impact and
encouraging as many people as possible to join us in this mission. The collaboration between Plastic Free and IVECO
illustrates that together, we can make a real difference both for today and for generations to come.”
