Iveco in Hanover for the IAA 2010

Iveco will take part in the Hanover Fair 2010, to be held from 23rd to 30th September, with a significant number of new products, services and innovative technologies.
The theme guiding Iveco’s presence at the fair is "Driving Innovation to reality" that is “transforming innovations into reality”. In recent years some of the most important technological innovations made by the company have actually become commercially available, particularly in the alternative traction sector. The electric or hybrid vehicles, which in the previous IAA exhibition were interesting, futuristic and innovative proposals, have now become equally fascinating but bear the livery of major Iveco customers who use them and put them through their paces every day in diverse duty conditions.
The Iveco stand at Hanover 2010 is inspired by the great Italian genius, Leonardo da Vinci, scientist, inventor, artist and sculptor. At the centre of the stand is shown the Vitruvian Man, Leonardo's drawings with which he wanted to demonstrate the harmonious perfection of the human body, exactly inscribed in the two regular geometric shapes of excellence: the circle and square.
The exhibition area of over 2700 m2, in which Iveco presents a significant number of products, services and innovative technologies, is divided into three sections: urban, medium and long distance and off-road.
In the first section four ECODaily vehicles in different versions are exhibited, including a zero-emission electric van that can move freely in the historic centres. Completing the section, a 12 metre series hybrid Citelis bus that makes use of a Diesel engine to drive an electric generator working with batteries to drive the vehicle, capable of reducing emissions up to 30% and contributing significantly to improving air quality in cities.
The second section is devoted to the Stralis, the Iveco flagship, which is present in multiple configurations and represents the company's response to long distance goods transport. A specific version will be also presented, making its world premiere, that is particularly rich in technology content and services that make a product with a specific mission: to optimize performance, reducing consumption and related CO2 emissions to a minimum to make a major contribution to the sustainability of road transport.
The third section is the Trakker, that has always been the undisputed protagonist of work in quarries and construction sites all over the world, and the now famous Light Multirole Vehicle LMV, designed for tactical military applications and missions of peacekeeping, presented here in the version used for the activities of the Italian Civil Protection service.
The technological excellence as the highest expression of reality in the near future is represented by “Iveco Glider”, a real laboratory, but not too experimental; the result of a creative journey that begins with the observation of nature and proposes a new concept of a high productivity and minimal environmental impact vehicle. The project is in collaboration with the Fiat Research Centre, where a team of researchers and specialists found inspiration in an eagle, one of the most perfect creatures of the air in nature, which represents the ideal compromise between high performance and energy efficiency.
Another centre of attraction on the Iveco stand follows the theme of technological excellence in support of customer productivity, not only in terms of operating costs, but also increased productivity by means of new solutions applied to the vehicle. First, the electronic package "Blue & Me Fleet", the system built on a Fiat-Microsoft platform and realised in partnership with Qualcomm, global leader in web based solutions for managing vehicle fleets, to which ample space on stand is dedicated.
Next to the product range, a prominent place on the stand is devoted to customers and the target of Iveco’s sponsorships: from Ferrari to the Fiat Yamaha Team, from Coca-Cola to the Italian Civil Protection service, Iveco works every day alongside companies of excellence to ensure the availability of transport most appropriate to their needs.
Advanced telematics solutions are also available to visitors who may receive information about the company, vehicles and related service packages for customers, by means of a fast and simple innovative communication tool. Every employee at the booth will in fact have an iPad to better convey information to visitors.
To complete exhibition, Iveco is providing an outdoor area where eight vehicles are on show, including a fire appliance, equipped with a telescopic turntable ladder extendable to 32 meters, manufactured by Iveco Magirus, (a world leader in the production and marketing of fire ladder equipment) , a Stralis CNG and, in addition, the Leoncino, a medium-range product based on a Chinese vehicle platform, which bears the name of a glorious truck produced from 1950 to 1968 by Officine Meccaniche OM of Brescia, later becoming one of the founders of Iveco and that will be sold from next year in non European overseas markets

Iveco designs, manufactures, and markets a broad range of light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, off-road trucks, city and intercity buses and coaches as well as special vehicles for applications such as fire fighting, off-road missions, defence and civil protection.
Iveco employs almost 25,000 people and runs 24 production units in 11 Countries in the world using excellent technologies developed in 6 research centres. Besides Europe, the company operates in China, Russia, Australia and Latin America. Around 5,000 sales and service outlets in over 160 Countries guarantee technical support wherever in the world an Iveco vehicle is at work.
