The Trakker range in brief

Launched in 1993, the Iveco EuroTrakker range of quarry and construction site vehicles was equipped with the Cursor 8 and Cursor 13 engines at the end of 2000. Today they change their name to Trakker, and are fitted with the Stralis AT/AD cabs. This means that drivers will benefit from the progress made in terms of comfort and sound-proofing on Iveco’s road vehicles. Thanks to electronic systems to transmit information and commands, the driver is provided with precise data to improve his driving, with rationally arranged controls and optimised safety functions. The three cab variants – short, long and high roof – meet the demands of every type of use.

The other innovations
Apart from the AT/AD cab, the main novelties on the Trakker are:

- Air suspension on the rear tandem axle, as an alternative to semielliptical or parabolic geometries, which increases traction on loose surfaces and comfort on the road, particularly when empty.

- An even more comprehensive range, with 60 trucks, 4x2, 4x4, 6x4, 8x4 and 8x8, 14 of which were designed specifically to be fitted with cement mixers, plus 17 tractors, 4x2, 4x4, 6x4 and 6x6.

- Electronic management of the PTOs, which can programme as many as three on the same vehicle.

But we cannot overlook the strong points that are behind the success of the previous range:

- Two families of products with different engines, chassis, rear tandem and suspension systems. The first optimises the payload, strictly respecting legislation regarding maximum weights. This is why most versions are powered by the Cursor 8 engine (although the Cursor 13 is available if more power is needed) with light components. The second focuses on sturdiness, with the Cursor 13 engine and components with very high safety coefficients.

- Two six-cylinder engines from the Cursor family: the 7.8 litre Cursor 8 delivering 270, 310 or 352 Hp; and the 12.9 litre Cursor 13 which delivers 380, 440 or 480 Hp. These two engines share the same architecture, with a variable geometry turbocompressor, except for the Cursor 13-380 Hp, on which the supercharging pressure is adjusted by a waste-gate valve. The Cursor 8 and Cursor 13 have common features, which are greatly appreciated on site: high torque at low engine speeds, which is useful for hill starts; peak torque available over a wide spread of engine speeds and maximum power available from intermediate speeds, which means elastic driving without jerks even on rough terrain.

- An engine retarder as standard equipment with a deceleration capacity of between 310 Hp (Cursor 8) and 408 Hp (Cursor 13).

- EuroTronic gearboxes (on request) with 12 speeds, clutch and automated engagement, for smooth starts and extremely rapid gear changes.

- Fittings on the chassis and a wide range of factory-mounted options, to simplify the assembly of outfits and implements. For example, the continuous PTOs positioned in the rear part of the Cursor engines to drive hydraulic cement mixers.

To sum up, where the chassis, front and rear axles and suspension are concerned, the Trakkers feature technology that has proven itself over the years on off-road vehicles, which operate in the most extreme load conditions. The modern conception of the engines guarantees top performance at all times, combined with unbeatable reliability.

The owner will appreciate the time and money saved when outfitting the vehicle; the low running cost of the Cursor Euro 3 engines; and the speed and reliability of diagnosis during maintenance thanks to the Modus and IWT systems developed by Iveco. But also the strength of the steel bumpers, which are divided into several sections so that they are easy to replace.

The driver will appreciate the comfort of the AT/AD cabs and the ease with which the Trakkers are driven.
