Astra: the quarry professional

Five of the most representative vehicles of the entire Astra range will be on show in the approximately 800 square metre Astra exhibition area: two HD8 rigid versions, an 84.48 with concrete mixer and a 88.48 chassis cab, a remarkable HHD 6x6 tractor, an ADT30 D articulated dumper with new front suspension and a brand-new RD40 rigid dumper, featuring a new style and new technological content, the latter in world preview at Samoter 2011.
Other HD8 series vehicles will be on show on the stands of some body builders.
According to tradition, Astra offers customers an opportunity to test several HD8 models and an ADT articulated dumper at the Astra proving ground situated less than three kilometres from the exhibition hall. Astra will be organising a bus service connecting the exhibition hall to the proving grounds.

Designed and made for particularly arduous use on and off road alike, Astra vehicles provide top level strength and great mobility on all types of terrain. Driving comfort, large windows for excellent visibility, a strong personality and a stylish, aggressive design are only some of the distinctive features that combined with the famed rugged chassis and high-performing Cursor engines, make the HD8 your ideal partner. The features of these vehicles - versatile yet tough at the same time - and the nearly unlimited customisation options mean that you can configure your Astra whatever your transport and construction site needs and wherever you are worldwide, from quarries and construction sites, to oversized loads and specialist oil & gas sector applications.

The cab
With their tried-and-tested mechanical cab suspension systems, HD8 vehicles offer a truly remarkable riding comfort to drivers. The spring preload can be set to no less than five different positions to ensure the right response on all roads and terrain.
The cab interior presents many solutions aimed at optimising usability and riding comfort. Getting in is facilitated by the 90° opening of the door while the electronic Multiplex System architecture combines diagnostic functions and high reliability by limiting the total number of electronic control units.

Comfort is assured, whatever the working environment and weather conditions, aided by an outstanding  heating and ventilation system. Rational choice of materials ensures interiors that are simple to maintain and easy to clean.
The low, level dashboard and the large lower side windows in the doors allow off-road terrain and city traffic alike to be tackled in safety. The height and inclination of the steering column is pneumatically adjustable to ensure the ideal driving position. Compliant with the most recent type-approval standards, vehicles are provided with an additional wing mirror to minimise blind angles.
