2015 Dakar now in Chilean territory after a tough stage.

The Dakar convoy crossed the Andes moving into Chilean territory in Stage 4. Hans Stacey finished the timed section in the 5th position, while De Rooy came to a halt due to an unlucky accident.

Stage 4 was characterized by two large areas of dunes and plenty of sandy terrain that made the race difficult to many 2015 Dakar crews.

The Russian Kamaz dominated the Chilecito - Copiapó route, despite the fact that Dutchman Gerard de Rooy had a good start with his Iveco Powerstar. A few kilometers after passing the first checkpoint, fighting inch by inch for the lead, he had to come to a halt due to an unlucky accident in a dip.

Even his team mate and always-ready assistant, Pep Vila, stopped to help him out: the Catalonian pilot stopped more than 40m to assist Gerard de Rooy with a great team spirit.

Therefore, Hans Stacey was Iveco's best performer in Stage 4. The Dutch pilot, at the wheel of the robust Iveco Powerstar, finished the day in the 5th position, ranking 5th in the general classification.

Pep Vila finished a little behind after having stopped to assist his team mate Gerard de Rooy. Onboard an Iveco Trakker Evolution II truck, he arrived 1h16m06s from the leaders.
