Dakar 2015

2015 Dakar: Roundtrip

For the sixth time in its history, the Dakar will have a loop route: a total length of 9,000 miles, of which 4,500 are special stages, with the start and finish line set in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Petronas De Rooy Iveco team will have to be ready for anything again this year in order to complete the course and cross the finish line two weeks after the start.

The 2015 Dakar will have some new features: competitors will have to follow some sections of the road network to access the special stages that will characterize the event and where Iveco Trakker's endurance will be put to the test in deserts and extreme terrain, and Gerard DeRooy will have to capitalize on his abilities as an experienced driver.

From its birth, the Dakar has been one of the most exciting challenges for a driver. Participants will be driven to give their best not only by the desire to top the ranking, but by the dream of completing the race; this is where the Dakar spirit comes from, the tradition of solidarity that represents a pillar of this unique competition that Iveco has always supported.

Since 2009, after leaving the African deserts, the Dakar has offered drivers from around the world the chance to explore the extremes of South America, with the richness of its scenery and its virtually infinite routes.

About 800 competitors will gather for this year's event which will be watched by more than one billion people in 190 countries.
