Iveco has launched its eagerly awaited new Daily light commercial vehicle range, featuring a new engine line-up, a revised cab and extensive safety features.
The complete Daily range now extends to over 2,500 possible configurations with models available between 3.2 and 6.5 tonnes, ensuring there is a suitable van or chassis cab for the needs of every light commercial vehicle operator. It includes the largest panel van available to buy on the market - offering a load carrying capacity of 17.2 m³ – one of just eight different load space volumes available from 7 m³.
Chris Thorneycroft-Smith, Managing Director of Iveco UK explains: “There is no doubt that with the new Daily, Iveco benefits from one of the widest and most state-of-the-art light commercial vehicle ranges available, confirming Daily’s position as the most flexible vehicle in its class.”
One of the most notable changes with new Daily is a revised line-up of engines, all of which are Euro 4 compliant. This sees the choice between 2.3 and 3.0 litre units offering increased power and torque output, with the top-of-the-range 3.0 litre HPT engine delivering an impressive 176 hp with 400 Nm of torque between 1,250 and 3,000 rev/min, giving it best in class performance.
The new Daily also features a revised cab, styled by the world-famous Italian automotive design house Giugiaro. Amongst the most significant changes are improved driver ergonomics and ease of movement across the cabin, thanks to the dash-mounted gearshift and new hand brake, which is not only shorter but has also a lighter action. New seats make Daily even more comfortable and provide greater support, whilst the interior is spacious and practical to manage thanks to the increased amount of storage available.
Driver and passenger comfort is further enhanced by new features such as a parking sensor, load area lighting and camera system integrated into the third brake light and an auxiliary heater with timer, for programmable operation.
Additional safety features have also been built into the new model, with new larger ventilated brake disks helping to bring a typical 3.5-tonne S class van from 60 to 0 mph in just 42 metres. All new Dailys are equipped with ABS / EBD and, as with the previous model, can be specified with the latest generation ESP8. In addition to a driver’s airbag, which is standard for people carrier MPV models and higher power vans, vehicles can also now be fitted with passenger-side and window airbags.
Added to these, Daily now incorporates innovative features aimed at continually improving reliability levels: for example, the latest generation CAN BUS electrical and electronics system, which compared to traditional wiring is simpler and requires fewer connections. There is also an improved diagnostics interface and new functions available ranging from satellite navigation to hands-free Bluetooth telephone kits and an MP3 player.
The complete model line-up extends to three classes (according to gross vehicle weight): L, S and C, each in van or chassis cab versions. These can be specified with a choice of five engines, a selection of different wheelbases and interior heights, lengths, volume capacities, and side and rear door configurations.
Prices start from £16,400, with vehicles available to test drive at any of Iveco’s 26 main distributors and 43 satellites across the UK.
