Iveco distributor Bristol Street Commercials has significantly expanded its commercial vehicle activities in the West with the opening of a new flagship dealership in Avonmouth – the result of a three year planning project and over £3 million of capital investment.
The new site was officially opened today, 6 June 2006, and is located on the St Martins Industrial Estate in Cabot Park and sees the formation of one of the largest van and truck specialist dealers in the Bristol area.
It also more than doubles Bristol Street Commercials’ market potential, with projected vehicle sales of over 800 units annually by 2007, in addition to the strong performance from its established dealerships in Gloucester and Swindon.
“The opening of this new site enables us to join our existing territories together to offer a comprehensive one-stop solution to commercial vehicle operators, whilst considerably strengthening Iveco’s coverage in the Bristol and Avonmouth area,” explains David Lomax, Managing Director of Bristol Street Commercials.
“Avonmouth is heavily populated with transport companies, and the planned redevelopment of the port over the next five years will make it one of the largest container terminals in the country. It also fits perfectly with the Ministry of Transport’s plans to relocate its MOT HGV testing station to within a quarter of a mile of our new site,” he adds.
Bristol Street Commercials offers a full range of commercial vehicle services, including new and used Iveco van, truck and Irisbus minibus sales, financing packages, all-makes servicing and the supply of parts to both wholesale and retail customers.
The site benefits from a purpose-built workshop featuring five full-length drive through double bays capable of maintaining over 1,000 vehicles on a six-weekly cycle, together with hard-standing ground for approximately 60 trucks. It also offers repair and maintenance for all vehicle models from small vans to 44 tonne tractor units, along with Class 7 MOTs, analogue and digital tachograph calibration, brake testing facilities, welding and fabrication, a ply lining service and 24 hour roadside assistance.
It will also serve as the head office and main parts hub for the company, with over £600,000 of all-makes and genuine Iveco parts in stock, supported by a further £250,000 in Gloucester and Swindon.
Prior to the opening, Bristol Street Commercials operated a “satellite” support dealership three miles away on the St Andrews Trading Estate. The new site has seen these 25 staff transferred, plus the creation of a further 12 jobs, with up to 13 additional posts expected to be filled over the next 18 months.
The comprehensive line-up of vehicles available from the new dealership ranges from the 3.2 tonne Daily panel van, winner of the Van of the Year and Fleet Van of the Year Awards’ 2005, through to the flagship 44 tonne Stralis tractor unit. It also includes a full range of Eurocargo rigids between 7.0 and 18 tonnes, multi-axle on/off-road Trakker construction vehicles as well as the popular Irisbus Daily minibus.
Bristol Street Commercials is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bristol Street Group Ltd.
