Iveco Delivers Trakker to Clancy Docwra

Trakker delivered to Clancy Docwra

Clancy Docwra, one of the leading national construction company’s in the UK utilities sector, has taken delivery of a new Iveco Trakker as an additional commercial vehicle for its 800-strong fleet.

The Trakker, ordered specifically for Clancy Docwra’s contract with Thames Water in central London, is fitted with a tipper body built by Massey Truck Engineering and an HMF 1244 crane.

It joins over 80 Iveco trucks already operating in the company’s fleet and was supplied by Northampton-based distributor Stormont Truck & Van.

“We have operated EuroTrakkers for many years, so selecting a Trakker for this latest role was the natural step forward,” explains Mike Revell, Group Plant & Transport Director at Clancy Docwra.

“In our opinion the Trakker represents the strongest vehicle for arduous on/off road work on the market today, with a proven driveline and freshly designed cab which offers maximum driver comfort combined with ultimate practicality.”

The Trakker AD260T31 has been supplied in 6x4 configuration and benefits from a cab width of just 2.28 m. This guarantees excellent vehicle manoeuvrability in confined spaces, resulting in a reduced risk of collision with obstacles and making it perfect for operation on London’s congested streets.

The Trakker is also fitted with an all-steel bumper, consisting of three sections, which helps to minimise replacement costs if damaged. The bottom section of the bumper has also been rounded off to follow the front approach angle; when the vehicle is moving, the step used by the driver to clean the windscreen retracts into it. For added protection, the halogen headlamps are set into the front of the vehicle and shielded by a removable grille.

Inside the new Trakker cab, the driver benefits from the same comforts found on board a road-going Stralis. The seat has air suspension and is fully adjustable with a headrest and an integrated seatbelt. It is upholstered in vinyl which makes it easy to wipe clean.

Power is provided by Iveco’s 7.8 litre Cursor 8 engine, which is capable of producing 310 hp between 1,950 and 2,400 rev/min and up to 1,115 Nm of torque between 1,000 and 1,950 rev/min, driven through Iveco’s 12-speed EuroTronic gearbox.
