Iveco at the Road Transport Show in Amsterdam

October 2005

Iveco is present at the 28th International Motor Show in Amsterdam, one of the most important European road transport shows, which will open its doors on October 13 for the Press Day.

Iveco will exhibit the best of its technology, which is dedicated entirely to safe, environmentally-friendly transport, on a stand of over 3,500 square metres.

There will be 18 vehicles on the stand, illustrating the variety and quality of the Iveco range to visitors. The products meet all the requirements of road transport, from deliveries to long hauls, building site and off-road applications.

The range on show will include vehicles from 3 tonnes GVW up to the maximum permissible weight in the various European countries. The light range now features a new 136 Hp version of the 2.3-litre Iveco Unijet engine, as well as the AGile automated gearbox, combined with the 136 or 166 Hp 3-litre engine. This is followed by the medium duty Eurocargo range, with GVW from 6.5 to 19 tonnes. The star of the Stralis heavy road range is the ES version, which now features two safety devices, ESP and the Lane Departure Warning System. Finally, the new Trakker site vehicles are exhibited in specific versions for the Dutch market.

Iveco will also present the tools it offers customers to guarantee the permanent availability of their working vehicles, i.e. the after-sales service network, and Call Centre that coordinates and supports the network’s activities, with tools that guarantee rapid, efficient intervention.

An ample area of the large stand is dedicated to the environment. Various models will be on show, with sophisticated technical solutions that anticipate the Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards due to be enforced in 2006 (Euro 4) and 2009 (Euro 5). There are also other projects, which are even more ambitious, such as methane gas and hybrid propulsion engines. Safety issues will also feature, with the presentation of all the novelties in the field of active safety on vehicles; for example, ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), an electronic device that monitors vehicle stability, and cuts in by correcting the trajectory, or the Lane Departure Warning System, which warns the driver if he crosses a lane marking.

The stand will also celebrate Iveco’s 30th birthday, the past being evoked on the stand by two vintage Fiat and Magirus vehicles.
