 Worthing plasterer wins with Wickes

August 2005

A plasterer from Worthing, Sussex, has won an Iveco Daily van worth over £15,000 after entering a competition run by the Wickes chain of home improvement centres.

Alan Wilson scooped the first prize after correctly guessing that an Iveco Daily can hold up to 43 rolls of 100 mm Wickes loft roll insulation, which would cover 455.8 m² of loft space.

“Winning the Iveco van is a fantastic boost to my business, and is going to raise my profile dramatically,” explains Alan.  “It really could not have come at a better time.

“Up until now I had been working out of an estate car, so I am literally going to be spoilt rotten with the masses of space inside the Daily.  It will enable me to carry all of my tools and materials in one trip, and it’s also highly manoeuvrable, making it perfect for driving around the town,” he adds.

The prize - an Iveco Daily 29L10 van - is just one model from Iveco’s extensive Daily range which comprises over 3,000 different light commercial vehicles with gross vehicle weights from 3.2 to 6.5 tonnes.

It benefits from factory interior linings in the load storage area and offers the best possible access to the load thanks to the largest side-loading door aperture on the market.

Supplied by Stormont Truck & Van, the Brighton-based Iveco distributor, the Daily has a spacious, comfortable cab, with an ergonomic driving position to minimise driver fatigue.

This particular model is powered by Iveco’s 2.3 litre HPI engine, which is turbocharged and intercooled and produces a maximum power output of 96 hp between 2,800 and 3,900 rev/min and a peak torque of 240 Nm between 1,800 and 2,800 rev /min.

This engine was designed to be used in an urban environment where keeping noise and pollution to a minimum is a priority.  The flat torque curve makes it extremely flexible so that the driver can virtually "forget" to change gear.
