Eurocargo Signs Up to Work with Hawes

October 2004

One of the largest manufacturers of signs and retail display equipment in Europe has taken delivery of a new Iveco Eurocargo 180E24 to join its fleet of over 100 commercial vehicles.

Northampton-based Hawes Signs purchased the 18 tonner from its local Iveco distributor, Stormont Truck & Van, for use delivering and installing new signage across the UK and Europe.

“The new Eurocargo is the flagship of our fleet and was purchased based on the impressive reliability we’ve experienced from a similar K-reg model which has covered nearly 1,500,000 km and still plays an essential role in our everyday operation,” explains Nigel Hawes, Procurement Director.

“Before placing the order we compared the Eurocargo against its main rivals in the market place and it stood out in terms of payload capacity and whole-life costs, whilst its freshly designed cab offers impressive levels of comfort for the crew, especially on long journeys,” he adds.

The Eurocargo supplied has a 6,210 mm wheelbase and is fitted with a
28 ft platform body built by Plant Equipment.  The body features a hardwood floor throughout and has tool boxes fitted on both sides of the chassis.  It is also equipped with an Atlas 190.2 A4 loading crane, which is capable of lifting weights of up to 1.25 tonnes at a distance of 12 m.

Power is provided by a 240 hp version of Iveco’s proven 5.9 litre tector engine, which produces up to 810 Nm of torque between 1,250 and 2,100 rev/min, driven through a nine-speed manual gearbox.

Like all Eurocargo models, the vehicles also feature ABS and an electronic engine immobiliser as standard, as well as a triple activation exhaust brake which can be actuated by the brake pedal, the exhaust brake pedal or by releasing the accelerator.

With over 50 years industry experience, Hawes Signs is the market leader in corporate image implementation for the automotive, petroleum, banking, finance, retail and leisure industries.  Its new Eurocargo is currently being put to work in completing a comprehensive re-signing programme for Iveco’s nationwide dealer network.

Hawes Signs is also a member of ECCE B.V. the world’s largest international corporate image implementation organisation, providing multi-national capability for its clients
