During an impressive reception at the Italian Embassy in the heart of London’s West End, Parcelforce Worldwide, a Royal Mail company, took delivery of the first vehicles from an order of 444 Iveco Daily vans.
The reception was attended by senior managers from Iveco, Parcelforce Worldwide, Royal Mail Fleet Services, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, and the Freight Transport Association.
The first two Daily vans were on show at the entrance to the Embassy, and they were handed over to Dom McKenna, Operations Manager of Parcelforce Worldwide, by Giuseppe Franchi, Managing Director of Iveco UK, in the presence of the Italian Ambassador, Giancarlo Aragona.
The Ambassador commented: “I am proud to host this event for Iveco, becoming supplier of a prestigious company like Parcelforce”.
Giuseppe Franchi added: “Parcelforce Worldwide is one of the major operators in the express delivery sector, and we are pleased that after careful analysis of the competition, the company has chosen our Daily for its distribution fleet, in recognition of its particular characteristics”.
Dom McKenna, Operations Manager of Parcelforce Worldwide, declared: “We are proud to sign agreements with companies that pay as much importance to service to their customers as we do".
The order to Iveco is part of a continuous investment programme to ensure that our operators have the best instruments to enable them to provide excellent service to our customers”. All the vehicles in the Parcelforce Worldwide order are Iveco Daily 35S12 vans, which have the greatest loading depth of all the 3.5 tonne models on the market.
The new fleet will be delivered all over the country by early December, so that all the vehicles are operational before Christmas. The fleet of vehicles supplied by Iveco includes two significant variants, one with a floor-to-ceiling partition, the other with a partial partition.
All the models have an internal loading depth of 4.5 metres, sufficient space to allow the operator to carry all his deliveries.
The vehicles are also fitted with the special Iveco “slam lock” electronic locking system that guarantees maximum safety.
All the Dailys are powered by 2.3 litre HPI engines delivering up to 116 Hp, which render the Parcelforce Worldwide fleet particularly agile in traffic and ideal for use in town or for long hauls. Parcelforce Worldwide is the UK leader in the delivery sector, guaranteeing deliveries to 27 million customers in the United Kingdom.
Commenting on the contract, Iveco CEO Josè Maria Alapont noted that, “for us, Parcelforce’s choice is a source of pride and confirms that our strategy to fully satisfy customer expectations with leading technology and excellence in products and services is paying dividends”.
